Thousands watch live ‘Eagle Cam’ as two eggs are expected to hatch

The hatching of a bald eagle in Fort Myers, Florida was captured today by 'Eagle Cam', just days after it was announced a crack had appeared in one of two eggs, NBC News reports.

A second egg has yet to hatch, and some have speculated that the sibling eaglets may be born in 2016 and 2017.

The first eaglet broke free of its shell early Saturday morning on a Livestream camera set up above the eagles' nest.

Bald eagles are usually ready to fledge by 9 to 10 weeks of age when they're close to being full grown.

Russ Ochs, with the Audubon Society and McGough Nature Park in Largo, says the first egg should hatch soon. Ozzie was injured and passed away two days later.

A live camera, provided by Dick Pritchett Real Estate shows the nest as the eagles take turns keeping their eggs warm. Florida Fish and Wildlife officers found him with an injury from fighting with another male eagle in the area. Bald eagles have a 35-day incubation period, so we could see hatching any day now. - Thousands of viewers from around the world are anxiously awaiting the arrival of two eaglets.
