Arsene Wenger is expected to tell Arsenal he wants to stay at the club beyond the end of the season, according to The Telegraph.

It had been thought that the experienced manager had chose to step down, but according to The Mirror, Wenger wants to stay with the Gunners and will put pen to paper on an extension to his current deal, which expires this summer.

The former Leicester City star thinks managers will be "scrambling over each other" in order to take over from Wenger, who will reveal his decision over his future soon.

The circus now surrounding a man who has spent 21 years at Arsenal even led an old adversary, West Brom manager Tony Pulis, to speak up in his defence.

However the reports detailing Wenger's intention to stay denied such an approach has been made.

Wenger, Arsenal's manager since 1996, is believed to have been offered a new two-year contract.

Spurs now have a huge chance of finishing above their north London rivals for the first time since the 1994-95 season, as they sit nine points clear in second. A plane was flown over the stadium that read: "No contract #Wenger Out". "I've done the top four twenty times, it is not that".

Although Dortmund are third in the Bundesliga and are not guaranteed European football next season, they have progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals, where they will meet Monaco.

However, Arsenal sources said on Monday that the report was "not true". "It's more. It's not that", he said. "I give my best and as long as I will be at the club if it's for two more years, if it's for ten more years, if it's for one month... it's not the difference". 'It's not the last result that will decide what I will do.
