Liverpool star named as 'technically the best' Klopp's worked with

Manchester City's Spanish manager Pep Guardiola speaks with referee Michael Oliver after the English Premier League football match between Manchester City and Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester north west England

Manchester City have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Liverpool. We fought until the last minute and put everything out on the pitch.

Pep Guardiola told his Manchester City players just how happy he was with their performance immediately after their 1-1 draw with Liverpool, goalkeeper Willy Caballero has said.

James Milner tucked away the penalty to give the visitors the lead but Sergio Aguero levelled with just over 20 minutes remaining to ensure City salvaged a point in the gripping match at Etihad Stadium.

"We are still in a battle, that's how it is", Klopp added on Champions League qualification.

"He helped us a lot this game, he played a good game, intercepted a lot of balls, so there is no point in blaming him".

"It is one of the days I am proud of the most".

City are still involved in the FA Cup but with their title challenge seemingly over, their prime objective is now qualifying for next season's Champions League.

For all of City's neat play in midfield, Liverpool created the best chances and Caballero produced a particularly athletic save to deny Firmino soon after Milner's goal. We are fighting every single game to be in the four who qualify for the Champions League. Both sides spurned numerous chances and had two penalty appeals each rejected in the first half.

"After the way that we lost against Monaco, the most important thing for us is to be there the next year, in the Champions League again".

Sergio Aguero brought City level with 21 minutes remaining, but neither side could muster a victor and both had to settle for a point. Some City players continued to remonstrate afterwards.

Fourth-placed Liverpool are four points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United, having played two games more.

"At 1-1 we had the big chance with Adam Lallana but we didn't take it so that's what makes me a little bit disappointed but I think it's a fair result".
