Paul Ryan: Obamacare Repeal Will Pass Thursday, Trump Is "Great Closer"

A vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with the American Health Care Act is slated for Thursday in the House.

The debate over the future of health care in America moved into the streets of Omaha Saturday.

A children's advocacy organization contends the American Health Care Act - the proposed replacement for Obamacare - would be devastating for youngsters in NY who are covered through Medicaid and the state's Children's Health Insurance Program.

In a tacit admission that older Americans could take a big financial hit from the Republican healthcare bill now making its way through Congress, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said on Sunday that he is seeking changes in the legislation.

"The current plan to replace the Affordable Care Act would cut health care for our most vulnerable residents, including children, seniors, and individuals suffering from opioid and heroin addiction", Wolf said in January.

America is an exceptional country, and this pan is simply not worthy of America.

Yet it's the "double-whammy" of the loss in tax credits and higher insurance premiums that is the most immediate concern, AARP leaders said.

Ryan replied that he's looking at changing the current healthcare bill to offer "additional assistance to people in those older cohorts".

"I don't think we have the votes yet to actually pass it, so you've seen Donald Trump, the president, engage", Mr. Duffy, Wisconsin Republican, said on "Fox & Friends".

64-year-old single person with an annual income of $26,500: 6.4 percent under Obamacare, 55.1 percent under the Republican plan.

Together, these provisions amount to an age tax on older Americans. Under the Republican plan to replace Obamacare, premiums would increase for approximately 454,000 Floridians between the ages of 50 to 64 who now receive Obamacare tax credits.

Currently, 97 percent of NY children have health insurance, the highest level in state history, Anderson said.

Representative Mark Meadows (R-NC 11th District), told C-Span's Newsmakers that there were now 40 Republican "no" votes in the House. "You know, every bill has winners and losers". That means more competition - and lower prices.

But the federal government's calculation of those premiums varies widely by state and even county, with recipients in regions like southern Georgia winning thousands more in subsidies than people with similar incomes in places like western Pennsylvania and eastern Tennessee, as the Washington Post pointed out in 2013. Having to pay thousands more for health insurance could force many to make hard choices between food, medicine, housing and other basic necessities. And it's a killer.
