Roger Stone responds to Comey hearing, denies claims of Russian Federation collusion
Roger Stone, who advised President Trump during the early days of his campaign in 2015, on Monday said he wants to respond to "smears" and "half-truths" about his alleged cooperation with Russian Federation that were raised during a House Intelligence Committee hearing.
Republican committee Chairman Richard Burr and ranking Democrat Mark Warner said the hearing will focus on ways that Russian Federation works to influence election campaigns and public opinion.
Despite not being at Monday's House Intelligence Committee hearing, the former President Trump campaign adviser's name came up a couple of times.
Stone was also outraged about U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff's questions at the hearing and allegations about him made by U.S. Sen.
During a hearing on Russia's election meddling, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) noted that Stone communicated with Guccifer 2.0, a hacker that US officials believe is associated with the Russian government and that published stolen Democratic National Committee emails online.
"Chairman Schiff is engaging in the worst kind of red-baiting, fear-mongering".
"This is does not constitute collusion", Stone said.
The US intelligence community has said that Guccifer 2.0, which also pushed out stolen documents to journalists, is only one part of a complex scheme which saw Russian intelligence hack documents and submit the contents to WikiLeaks for release.
"That is what I'm accused of colluding with him on".
Oddly, Nunes recently went on record at the behest of the White House to refute a New York Times report that mentioned both Stone and Page.
Last week Stone admitted that he had communicated with Guccifer 2.0, a hacker or group of hackers believed to be a front for Russian intelligence, who published information from Democratic organizations.
The political consultant said there's nothing to find.
"I had no contact with Russians. There are no other Russian contacts".
Stone did say that he is certain that Trump has not had any improper contact with Russian Federation.
