Bill O'Reilly Ousted From Fox News With $25 Million in Severance

A woman walks by a sign showing Fox News Channel TV anchor Bill O'Reilly outside the News Corporation headquarters in New York City in New York

O'Reilly was sacked Wednesday after allegations of sexual harassment, abuse and racial discrimination from former female co-workers, following the revelation that he and the network had paid more than $13 million in settlements to five women.

One of the most known television hosts in the country, Bill O'Reilly, was sacked from Fox News Channel over sexual harassment allegations.

Burgess told the panel that she came to Fox News through a temp agency and was working for a colleague of O'Reilly's.

"By ratings standards, Bill O'Reilly is one of the most accomplished TV personalities in the history of cable news", the three wrote.

"Lastly, and most importantly, we want to underscore our consistent commitment to fostering a work environment built on the values of trust and respect". A representative for O'Reilly, who has been off the air on vacation since April 11, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

One was Gretchen Carlson, the former Fox News anchor.

Dozens of companies - including Mercedes-Benz and the pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline - fled O'Reilly's program as headlines spread across the internet and airwaves, detailing millions of dollars in settlements between the disgraced cable-news host and multiple women who accused him of sexual harassment.

The woman who remained anonymous when she alleged Bill O'Reilly sexually harassed her publicly revealed her identity today, appearing on ABC's "The View". O'Reilly in a statement said his fame had made him a target, but that no complaint about him had ever been made through Fox's human-resources hotline. O'Reilly is believed to make as much as $20 million to $25 million per year. By comparison, Twenty-First Century Fox's last fiscal year, which ended June 30, 2016, brought in a total of $7.65 billion in advertising revenue.

It fell to Dana Perino, filling in as host of "The Factor" on Wednesday, to note that it was the end of an era with O'Reilly's departure. Similarly, Fox paid now-former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes more than $40 million when he was forced out in the wake of his own sexual-harassment charges, money he reportedly used to buy a $36 million house in Palm Beach, Florida. So far, the political commentator, who has denied wrongdoing, hasn't publicly canceled his Anaheim appearance.

Ailes was out in July, O'Reilly was removed Wednesday, and "The O'Reilly Factor" was just "The Factor" on Wednesday.

Investors seemed to take the news in stride.

That is equivalent to one year of a rich new four-year deal that O'Reilly finalized earlier this year.

O'Reilly said in an April 1 statement that he had been unfairly targeted because of his public prominence.
