Champions League: Real Madrid face Atletico Madrid in semi final

Barcelona vs. Juventus

Reigning champions Real Madrid will face neighbours Atletico Madrid, while Monaco meet Juventus, when the four remaining sides fight for a place at the UEFA Champions League final in Cardiff.

Juventus and Monaco will contest the other semi-final in the final four.

While the Ligue 1 side were throwing men forward as usual to defeat Borussia Dortmund, Juventus were providing a now-familiar masterclass in defensive discipline and application to keep Barcelona out at the Camp Nou and hold on to their 3-0 first-leg lead.

Zinedine Zidane's side will have home advantage in the first leg, as do surprise package Monaco on the other side of the draw.

The return legs will be the following week.

"The only distinction from the three teams is that Atletico Madrid have a more marked and defined position in the (league) standings", said the stopper, who is yet to win the Champions League, calling Diego Simeone's team "the trickiest" of the sides left.

Beaten Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has tipped Juventus to lift the trophy they last won in 1996 and they will be favourites against Monaco.

This year's final will be hosted by the city of Cardiff on Saturday, 3 June.

Atletico is seeking its first title.

There was also an additional draw to define whether the victor of semi-final 1 or semi-final 2 is considered, for administrative purposes, the home team in the final.

Two-time champion Juventus is trying to return to the final since losing the final to Barcelona in 2015.

Two years ago, the Serie A side edged past Monaco 1-0 aggregate at the quarter-final stage.
