Former Patriots football player Aaron Hernandez found dead in jail cell

According to prison officials, "Hernandez hanged himself himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window". Here is the biblical verse: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". But he was already serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for his conviction in the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player who was dating his fiancee's sister. An autopsy will be performed by the medical examiner's office in Boston to determine his cause and manner of death, according to the Worcester District Attorney's Office. Hernandez was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. The former NFL-er was found hanged in his jail cell by prison officials and pronounced dead early that morning. "The family of Aaron Hernandez has made a decision to donate Aaron's brain to study so that we can possibly help other young men who decide to play football and to help further that cause and also possibly shed more light on this case", Baez said.

Martin Healy, chief legal counsel of the Massachusetts Bar Association, says Hernandez's death opens the door for his conviction for Lloyd's murder to be quashed. Baez announced he quickly launched an investigation into his death on behalf of the Hernandez family. "I'm not sure sure what kind of rounding was occurring in G2, the block where Mr. Hernandez was housed".

The suicide announcement came five days after a Boston jury acquitted Hernandez on Good Friday in the drive-by shooting murders of two men he had encountered in a night club in 2012.

Aaron Hernandez's attorney says that the state medical examiner's office is keeping the former National Football League player's family from donating his brain to research.

The medical examiner's office said it wanted to complete its investigation into the death before releasing the brain.

Earlier in the day, Daniel Bennett, the state's Secretary of Public Safety and Security, issued a statement saying that the medical examiner is still investigating the circumstances of Hernandez's death and will release the brain to BU once that investigation is finished. Aaron was looking forward to an opportunity for a second chance to prove his innocence.

Hernandez's appellate attorney, John M. Thompson, revealed that he intends to file all the appropriate paperwork once Aaron's death certificate is available.
