Shumpert sparks Cavs after Smith hurts hamstring in Game 2

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue talks with Iman Shumpert in the second half in Game 2 of a first-round NBA basketball playoff series Monday

LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers reacts in the second quarter of Game Three of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals during the 2017 NBA Playoffs against the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on April 20, 2017 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lance looked to keep up the pace with Kyrie, but the Cavs star hit the brakes, sending the Pacers player halfway off the court. Sometimes, when you have LeBron James, that's just how it works. Channing Frye made a 3-pointer with 54.8 seconds remaining for a 114-107 lead and J.R. Smith greeted him with a zealous chest-bump as they headed to the bench after a Pacers timeout.

Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said there is no down side to having three players with such dynamic offensive skills at the top of his rotation.

"We're right there", said Cleveland forward LeBron James after posting 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

The 26-point comeback ties for the third largest in league playoff history and is the largest since 2012, when the Los Angeles Clippers came back from a 27-point deficit to beat the Memphis Grizzlies. "It's not going to result in a stat line like this every night".

Cavaliers: James (357) jumped Magic Johnson (358) for third place in career playoff steals and hopped Robert Parish for eighth in rebounds.

Cleveland were outscored 13-7 over the final five minutes of the second quarter, opened up a 19-point lead during the third but IN regrouped and got back to within four points with 19 seconds to play. "Those first, probably out of the eight quarters, they just bullied us for like five and a half of those, and you're not going to beat the Spurs letting them dictate everything".

The reigning National Basketball Association champions appeared to be cruising to a comfortable win after opening up an 18-point lead at the end of the third quarter in front of their home fans at the Quicken Loans Arena. We held Paul George to four points in that third quarter where our defense was really good. But the Cavs are also 2-0 straight up, obviously, and they will have a much smaller spread to cover in this spot.

Game over, first-round series all but over.

There are many uncertainties in the NBA, but one fact seems to be a near guarantee-LeBron James will play in the NBA Finals. He averaged 15 points through the first two games. After scoring 49 points in the first half, the Cavs scored 35 in each of the final two quarters. The Cavs are going to need to find someone else to help take the burden off of James, Irving, and Love, if they hope to defend their championship.

George didn't score until 2:42 remained in the first quarter, missing his first four attempts.

Now the Pacers are one loss away from being eliminated by James' team for the fourth time in six years.

Kyrie Irving getting a shot over the Pacers' Jeff Teague. In three seasons, the Cavaliers have yet to lose a first-round game.

Re-signing Lance Stephenson was a wild-card move by the Pacers after the trade deadline.
