Wenger: Wilshere injury won't impact on contract talks with midfielder

Midfielder Jack Wilshere who is on loan at Bournemouth from Arsenal faces a spell of recovery following a fractured leg

Contract talks between Arsenal and Jack Wilshere will not be affected by his latest injury set-back, manager Arsene Wenger has insisted.

Arsenal are now the joint highest FA Cup holders along with Manchester United with 12 trophies.

The FA Cup also represents Pep Guardiola's last remaining chance of silverware in his debut season as City boss - the Spaniard expected to be challenging for the title, but inconsistency has been his side's Achilles heel.

Instead, he told ESPN that discussions between Kolasinac's entourage and interested parties would take place this week, meaning Arsenal may still have some persuading to do. We are all fully focused on that. That's the day when I realised how big the club is, how much it means to our supporters.

Inconsistent performances and dismal results throughout 2017 have prompted protests against Wenger signing a new deal but the man himself says that a loss at Wembley on Sunday wouldn't affect any potential decision.

"You could see that on some occasions against Middlesbrough we were a bit overcautious and a bit nervous", Wenger said.

"Obviously any injury to any player can make it more hard to reach your full potential, there is no denying that, but I have seen Jack steadily improve week by week since he has been with us. He'll be back in July for regular training", he said. Today, he makes part of training with us.

"The cup-tie could go either way with Spurs arriving in sensational form in the top-flight, but with a awful record at this stage of the competition having lost their last 6 successive FA Cup semi-finals".

"I think it is still there for Jack, you have to remember how young a player he is, he still has a lot of football ahead of him", Howe said. The game is of such an intensity it takes a while to get the confidence back.

"We believe it's a very easy break and it doesn't need any operation".

"They have the luck not to be stopped by injuries, and so it's always sad when a guy of that quality is always stopped by problems".
