Boston Celtics shake off Washington Wizards to make National Basketball Association conference finals

Boston's Al Horford bowls over Washington's Marcin Gortat during the Celtics' 115-105 win in Game 7 of their second-round series

The Celtics will take on LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday at the TD Garden.

In a do-or-die Game 7 in their Eastern Conference semifinal series Monday night, the Boston Celtics fended off the Washington Wizards 115-105.

The Celtics took a 110-99 lead on Olynyk's 3-pointer with 3:25 left, and the Wizards came out of a long timeout in the worst way, with a missed Marcin Gortat layup attempt.

In the first two rounds of the playoffs, James' efficiency has been off the charts, as he has averaged 34.4 points (second-most for his playoff career) on 55.7 percent shooting, making 46.8 percent of his 3-pointers and getting to the free-throw line 11.5 times per game.

Bradley Beal led the Wizards, who were playing their first game seven since 1979, with 38 points, including 24 in the second half.

Wall posted a double-double (18 points, 11 assists) but disappeared in the fourth quarter.

But Washington also had 15 turnovers, leading to 17 of the Celtics' points.

But Washington quickly responded, scoring seven straight in just 51 seconds to get back within six. As a unit, Washington's bench scored five combined points-all of which were courtesy of Bojan Bogdanovic.

Bradley Beal hit the first shot of the third quarter to give the Wizards their biggest lead at 57-53. The Celtics have the best odds at the No. 1 overall pick in Tuesday's National Basketball Association draft lottery, part of a bountiful return from when they traded Pierce and Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets in '13.

The Wizards were down 3-2 going into Saturday Night's game in Washington.

Crunch time is known as "I.T". These numbers are reminiscent of Russell Westbrook's horrifying fourth quarters against the Thunder, only with less scoring.

Boston's reward for Monday's win will be a date with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who haven't played a game since beating the Toronto Raptors May 7.

Aside from fouls, the Celtics especially were troubled in the rebounding department, as the Wizards outrebound the C's 23-14 through two quarters. As the quarter progressed, the Celtics seemed a bit anxious; they got whatever shots they wanted early, but only went 3 for 12 from behind the arc before halftime. In Game 4 of that series, Boston's Kelly Olynyk yanked Kevin Love's shoulder out of place fighting for a rebound, which forced Love into season-ending surgery.

PRESSURE IS ON: Thomas and Wall. It should be another exciting game and bettors wanting to make it even more thrilling should take their chances with one or more of the live in play betting markets that bet365 Sports will be offering throughout the game. Thomas had to visit the dentist after injuring at least three teeth in Game 1 against Washington, and the Celtics are only advancing after their defenders contained John Wall in Game 7.
