Guy in gorilla costume finishes London Marathon after 6 days

After 6 Days, Man in Gorilla Suit Done Crawling the London Marathon

The Londoner started the race at 10.34am on Sunday and crossed the finish line beating his chest at 11.45am on Saturday.

Harrison told the BBC he felt "tired but happy" when his six-day crawl was complete.

Wearing a gorilla costume, Harrison, who often goes by "Mr. Gorilla", raised more than a reported $45,000 (24,000 Euros) for charity completing the 42.2K route on his hands and knees or feet.

Metropolitan Police Officer Tom Harrison is seen crawling toward the finish line of the London Marathon, accompanied by his two sons.

He said: "It was tough at points, but I am really glad I did it". He said: "The first couple of days, people were giving me weird looks and a wide berth".

Harrison says the money will be used to protect endangered gorillas in Africa by sponsoring ranger services and helping people living near gorilla habitats to be more self-sufficient.

"I'm now looking forward to drinking a cup of coffee, just little things like that. I had helpers in front of me telling me to go left, right and so on so that I didn't hit lamp-posts or trees". "It didn't sit very well while my stomach was in such an unusual position during the race", he said.

Harrison's journey ended at Buckingham palace where conservationist Bill Oddie presented him with a medal as he joined his two sons Nicholas, 6, and Alex, 4, who were also dressed as gorillas.

He ran the marathon past year raising money for gorillas but is finding crawling much more stressful.

The charity's executive director Jillian Miller described his efforts as "incredible".
