Man injured when motorcycle hits 10-foot gator in Florida

An 10-foot-long alligator died a day after getting hit by a motorcycle in Florida

The motorcyclist hit the alligator, throwing him from the motorcycle.

Nelson was thrown off his motorcycle and landed on the overpass for the Little Manatee River.

It's the second accident this week in Florida involving an alligator.

The man was flown to an area hospital, but State Troopers on scene told ABC Action News that his injuries are non-life threatening. The alligator was listed in critical condition and was picked up by alligator trapper Rob Upthegrove, according to FHP.

FHP said late Friday afternoon the alligator had died. On Tuesday a driver on Interstate 75 escaped serious injury when she hit an alligator near Sarasota. On Tuesday, an alligator was killed when it was struck by a vehicle.

Nelson tried to stop as the gator approached his path, but he was unsuccessful.
