Rocker Chris Cornell killed himself by hanging, official says

Chris Cornell dead: Soundgarden, Audioslave frontman was 52

Bumbery also stated that Cornell's family will be working close with the medical examiner and requests privacy in this devastating period. His death was recently confirmed as a suicide by asphyxiation.

"Chris Cornell died today", Mustaine told the audience.

With his powerful, almost four-octave range, Cornell was one of the leading voices of the 1990s Seattle grunge movement, along with the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains.

But he has to admit that something seemed off at the concert which took place just hours before Cornell died.

Cornell, who was on tour with Soundgarden, had performed a concert in Detroit on Wednesday night.

Writing on Twitter, Jimmy said: "RIP Chris Cornell Incredibly Talented Incredibly Young Incredibly Missed. And to lose another frontman here in Seattle, I don't care how long it's been since we lost the last, it's devastating", KEXP DJ John Richards said.

Daniel Craig has paid tribute to Chris Cornell, who passed away on Wednesday night (17.05.17). According to Channel 4 WDIV Detroit, his wife Vicky called a family friend to check on Cornell. While the album wasn't an out-of-the gate hit, Soundgarden's promise and growing fan base was a key part of the rush that led to bands including Nirvana and Pearl Jam to later ink their own major-label deals.

Their most popular songs include "Black Hole Sun", "Fell On Black Days", "Spoonman", and "The Day I Tried To Live".

At Soundgarden's peak of popularity in the mid-1990s, the band's album Superunknown earned a Billboard No. 1 debut and a Grammy nomination for best rock record.

Cornell also released five solo albums during his time with Soundgarden including "Euphoria Morning". Thinking of his family tonight! He then joined Audioslave, which included former Rage Against the Machine members Tom Morello, Brad Wilk, and Tim Commerford.

"If I write a song and put it out there, it's not mine anymore", he told CNN.

Although the late rock star wasn't a fan of the Bond franchise, it was reported that he was interested in Daniel taking on the role and made a decision to accept the job on that basis. "And over the course of generations, those meanings will change".
