Just 17 Percent Of Americans Approve Of Republican Senate Health Care Bill

Trump promises'big surprise on health care

Americans broadly disapprove of the Senate GOP's health care bill, and they're unhappy with how Republicans are handling the efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, according to a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.

Five Senate Republicans on Tuesday had said they were not ready to vote on the bill without alterations, the bill can not afford to lose more than two votes. It's a very complicated subject. We're talking about average American working people, they're talking about multi-billionaires, that's why they're in such trouble. because their bill is aimed at helping the very wealthy, whereas, we are trying to help American families.

Since the release of the score, almost a dozen Republican members expressed concern over the bill, and five members - Sens.

But McConnell insisted the measure was far from dead.

The newspaper said an unidentified senator who supports the bill left a meeting with Trump at the White House on Tuesday "with a sense that the president did not have a grasp of some basic elements of the Senate plan". Thank you very much.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: This will be great if we get it done. "He wanted to talk to all of us today".

The percentage of voters supporting the bill rises among Republican voters.

Party leaders had hoped to bring the bill to the Senate floor for a vote this week, ahead of the July 4 recess.

There are popular aspects of Obamacare - no denial of pre-existing conditions, the ability to keep children covered until age 26 and expansion of Medicaid coverage to the poor - that appeal to many Republicans. Currently, Americans are required to buy health insurance or pay a fine if they do not. Susan Collins, R-Maine, Sen.

"I'm extremely anxious about what the consequences for hundreds of thousands of people here in the Commonwealth of Mass. would be", said Governor Charlie Baker, (D) MA.

"As drafted, this bill will not ensure access to affordable health care in West Virginia, does not do enough to combat the opioid epidemic that is devastating my state, cuts traditional Medicaid too deeply, and harms rural health care providers", she said.

America's health care system is a labyrinth of public and private structures, operating at the federal, state and local levels.

Cassidy said on "Face the Nation" Sunday that he is concerned about how the Senate proposal could adversely affect the unique situations in Louisiana. "I do not believe that Ronald Reagan would have supported this health care bill", Heller said.

"It's the biggest signature issue we have".

If Congress doesn't go through with a repeal of the ACA, 37 percent of Americans said they would blame Republicans in Congress, while 23 percent would blame Democrats, and 15 percent would blame President Trump. He can afford to lose just two Republican senators from the party's 52-seat majority in the 100-seat Senate to pass healthcare. They need at least 50 votes for passage, as Vice-President Mike Pence would break the tie in favour of the measure.

But at least nine Republicans senators have now said they oppose the bill as is, including Rob Portman of OH and Shelly Moore Capito of West Virginia.
