President Trump Reveals He Is Being Investigated

Trump lashes out over probe into possible obstruction of justice

Mr. Trump's morning tweets included what seemed like a jab at former FBI Director Robert Mueller, the new Special Counsel for the Russian Federation probe, as he said the investigation was being "led by some very bad and conflicted people!".

A recent Washington Post report said Trump is being investigated for possible obstruction of justice by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

After Mueller was appointed last month, Trump tweeted: "This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history".

If true, the investigation represents an expansion of Mr Mueller's original probe into links between Moscow and the 2016 Trump presidential election campaign.

Citing Rosenstein's private remarks, ABC News reported that he may have to recuse himself from the investigation, potentially following in the footsteps of Attorney General Jeff Sessions who did so in early March in a move that continues to vex the American president.

Trump's young presidency has been battered by allegations - under investigation both by Congress and the FBI - that Russian Federation interfered to sway the November election in his favor.

Mr Comey, who had been leading one of several Russian Federation inquiries, testified to Congress last week that the president had pressured him to drop the inquiry into Mr Flynn.

The president watches hours of TV news coverage every day - especially morning shows, which he sometimes records and watches in the evening - and complains about the reports nonstop. "#MAGA", Trump tweeted later on Thursday morning.

The first is into whether anyone on Mr Trump's presidential campaign or associated with it, with him or with any of his businesses, may have had any illegal dealings with Russian officials or others with ties to the Kremlin. He also praised Rosenstein in an interview after Comey was let go. According to anonymous sources who informed both The Washington Post and Reuters, last week's testimony from former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey meant it was only a matter of time before the Department of Justice took on this matter. Trump also asked Comey to drop an investigation into his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, according to Comey's testimony. A spokesman for Mueller declined to comment for the Guardian, and a spokesman for Trump's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.

At a congresional hearing last week, Comey confirmed that he told Trump three times that Trump was not being investigated as part of the Russia-collusion probe, and Trump tweeted "total and complete vindication" at that time.
