Spicer delivers first press briefing since shakeup announcement

Press Conference

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer confirmed Tuesday that he is meeting with potential candidates to fill communications jobs in the Trump administration - amid expectations he is poised to take on a new role.

If Spicer does leave the role, it will end one of the more contentious relationships a White House press secretary has had with the media in recent years.

"But look, it's no secret we've had a couple of vacancies, including our communications director".

He insisted that Senate Republicans were not behaving hypocritically by keeping their Democratic colleagues out of the process of drafting a health care reform bill, although they complained about their own input during the negotiations for Obamacare.

Who among us hasn't eaten a few extra pints of Ben & Jerry's since November 8? "And both are excellent choices because when asked about the job by reporters, Ingraham declined to comment, and in a phone call, Martosko said 'I can't hear you, ' and then hung up". "When we have an announcement of a personal nature, we'll let you know", he said.

Discussions about overhauling the White House communications office have been ongoing for several weeks, according to the senior administration official.

Trump adviser Steve Bannon reportedly said White House briefings were happening off-camera more frequently because "Sean got fatter" - and Chelsea Clinton won't stand for it.

"I understand. I've seen the reports", Spicer said.

On Monday, CNN reported that the White House scheduled a gaggle that day, but again barred it from being recorded.

The briefing wasn't originally scheduled but was added to the White House agenda on Tuesday morning. Whether Bannon is speaking for himself or the president wasn't clear, but many weren't amused. I think the briefing is one aspect of what we do.

Spicer said he's made it clear since he was hired that he wanted to do things "better" than previous administrations by giving access to other news outlets that "haven't had it".
