Camilla glowing at 70 in new portrait by photographer to the stars

Prince Charles and Darcey Bussell

To celebrate the 70th birthday of the Duchess of Cornwall Clarence House has released a new official photograph of the Duchess and husband, the Prince of Wales. To celebrate the occasion, she has hosted not one, but two birthday parties.

Captured by world famous portrait photographer Mario Testino shows the couple posed, relaxed and smiling in the morning room at Clarence House.

The Duchess of Cornwall turns 70 on Monday - 18 months before Prince Charles becomes a septuagenarian himself.

The duchess celebrated her birthday over the weekend with a private party at the couple's family home, Highgrove House, in Gloucestershire.

Camilla was initially blamed by some for Diana's unhappiness as she complained publicly about Camilla's continuing close relationship with Charles.

Family portrait: Testino was also invited to take this photograph for Princess Charlotte's Christening.

In the image, the Duchess stands next to her husband, the Prince of Wales as they wear matching navy blazers.

The Peruvian photographer said that when he first met Camilla, more than a decade ago, he "discovered a kind and handsome person with a wonderful sense of humour". "But behind closed doors she appears to have provided the heir to the throne with the love and a normal life, away from his public role, that he has always wanted", the newspaper said in a short biography written for Camilla's birthday.

That's what a lot of fans can't help but wonder as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's names seemed to be left of the guest list of Camilla's party. Although these were not shot as official birthday portraits Their Royal Highnesses liked them very much and felt it would be nice to share one of them to mark the day'.
