Emily Blunt is in spit spot form as Mary Poppins

The footage encapsulated the lives of Jane and Michael Banks, who live with their three children during the Great Depression in the United Kingdom. They're teetering on a crisis thanks to the ruthless manager of Fidelity Fiduciary, William Weatherall Wilkin (Colin Firth).

Scenes showed Mary Poppins floating from the skies holding a kite, pulling an umbrella out of her magic bottomless bag and riding in a vehicle with lamplighter Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda) in a part-animated sequence echoing the original film.

"Hamilton's" Lin-Manuel Miranda co-stars as a lamplighter, Jack. When they look up in the sky and the clouds part, they are stunned at the sight of Mary Poppins, umbrella in hand, hovering overhead.

Now, we get to see Mary in action-sort of.

Taking to Twitter, Walt Disney Studios shared a video of Emily Blunt in character, captioning it: "Emily Blunt is Mary Poppins in the upcoming sequel, #MaryPoppinsReturns".

"I found that I watched about 15 minutes of the original and then just stopped watching it because I needed to kind of try and pay homage to what Julie did but carve out new space for myself", telling the fans. "And we were very loyal to the books", Emily said.

Blunt took to the stage at the D23 Expo in Anaheim this morning, joining director/producer Rob Marshall to talk about the eagerly-anticipated return of the enigmatic nanny, where Blunt offered insight as to how she made the character her own. I just had to do my version of her'. Jack helps him pull it down to reveal that none other than Mary Poppins is holding it.

While we still have a bit of a wait for Mary Poppins Returns to hit our screens, debuting at cinemas next December, Disney has released a sneak peak of Emily Blunt as Poppins, and it's getting us excited already.

Among all the Jedi, Norse gods, princesses and witches in Disney's D23 sizzle reel this weekend, there is one smaller figure who still generated big cheers every time it was shown: Lin-Manuel Miranda's character in Mary Poppins Returns.
