Golden retriever swims into harbor to save fawn

Baby deer in water off Long Island saved by Golden Retriever in viral video

Mark Freeley, the owner of the English golden retriever, was taking Storm and his other dog, Sara, for a walk.

Mark Freeley, a lawyer, took the video on Sunday, Fox 13 NY said.

After bringing the deer to shore, it was clear that Storm was indeed trying to save the poor fawn.

He and his dogs Storm and Sarah were strolling on the beach when Storm jumped into the water after something.

Freeley then called animal rescue who ended up scaring the fawn back into the water.

Once on land, the fawn ran off but soon collapsed, Freeley said.

Floridia swam out to retrieve the fawn, which he said is about 3 months old. "I think he's trying to save him".

The vet took the fawn to her vehicle, and the animal is being treated. She said it was covered in ticks and had an eye injury.

Freeley can be heard on the video encouraging the dog, "Good boy, Storm!"

Freely posted a video of the rescue on Facebook Sunday morning, which garnered more than 35,00 shares and 8,000 likes.

Freeley captured video of the pup swimming back to shore, clutching something large in its mouth, and once Storm got close enough to stand, Freeley could see the "something" was a fawn. "He's a very affectionate, very loving dog".
