'Walking Dead' halts production after stuntman badly injured on set

The coroner said he died of blunt force trauma. Their statement added, "We are deeply saddened by this loss and our hearts and prayers are with John's family, friends, and colleagues during this extremely hard time".

A statement from SAG-AFTRA, a union that represents media workers, on Friday said Bernecker was an "accomplished" stuntman and called his death a "tragic and untimely loss".

A Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) spokesperson said the guild is investigating the accident.

Earlier this week, The Walking Dead stuntman John Bernecker, who suffered massive head injuries after he fell over 20 feet and landed on a concrete floor, passed away at the age of 33.

"The safety of our members is paramount", the organisation said in a statement.

Bernecker's family will reportedly let John save lives as an organ donor. "The family requests privacy during this time as they say goodbye to John".

Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon, posted a picture of Bernecker on Instagram, saying he "will be missed".

"Our production is heartbroken by the tragic loss of John Bernecker".

Bernecker appeared as a stuntman in a number of television shows and films, including The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay parts 1 and 2, and Logan, according to Variety and his page on IMDb, a website that profiles television and movie workers.

But despite the production delay, sources reveal that the eighth season of "The Walking Dead" will still air its premiere episode sometime in October. "We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers". As we previously reported, Bernecker died on Wednesday after an accident occurred on the set of the Atlanta-based show.
