White House Responds to Voters' Privacy Concerns by Publishing Their Information

Daily Texan Staff

The White House published a document of participants' responses on its website on Thursday, complete with everyone's email addresses and names.

"I mean, what are they trying to hide if they don't want a presidential advisory commission to study their state voter rolls?" he asked.

The White House has attempted to be very secretive with its own information, but apparently has no issues releasing the personal data of civilians. "It is none of your business or the President's business how I vote, for whom I vote, and whether I vote".

In addition to sharing the content of the emails, the administration failed to censor the citizens' personal information.

"While this data may serve a goal", Williams wrote in his letter to the commission Friday, "a single request for data that lacks the non-public data necessary to accurately match voters across states can't be used to effectively assess the accuracy of voter rolls". People's names, email addresses, physical addresses, and phone numbers were included in the correspondences, which have now been plastered on the web.

Williams, a Republican, urged the voter commission to reach out to the Election Registration and Information Center - a 20-state group that maintains elections, motor vehicle, death, felon and other records and is maintained by member states' agencies. Regulations.gov, the federal government's clearing house for public comments, includes a detailed set of guidelines explaining how to submit comments, what type of personal information is collected, and how that information may be used.

The public was asked to submit comments via email to the voter integrity commission, which was set up through an executive order signed by Trump to investigate voter fraud.

Responding to accusations of - at a minimum - willful ignorance, a Trump spokesperson blithely claimed that "These are public comments, similar to individuals appearing before commission to make comments and providing name before making comments", cited by the Washington Post.

The page that warning is contained on was published on July 13.
