Barcelona Accept Philippe Coutinho Signing May Take Time

Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho has been linked with a move to Barcelona

Liverpool have so far stood strong in the face of Barcelona's interest, though, having most recently rejected a reported £90m offer for the 25-year-old.

'From a financial standpoint, there is no price limit to let him go. Liverpool have reaffirmed that the forward is not for sale and the case is closed.

Speaking to Sky Germany on Thursday, Klopp said: "Liverpool is not a club that has to sell players".

"It's rather about wanting to assemble the best possible team, and this first of all means keeping the lads already at the club, and to complete the squad with others".

However, no player is "untouchable", I think that's been proven with Neymar, but Klopp is conscious of Liverpool replacing Coutinho should he be sold.

"Today, no player on the planet is unsellable", Klopp said.

A Barca bid for the 25-year-old Brazil worldwide had been expected ever since the Catalan club sold Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain in a world record breaking deal, last week.

Coutinho signed a five-year contract at Anfield back in January, with Liverpool ensuring that no release clause was inserted. "But a transfer is also a question of timing".

"Barcelona are in limbo and are starting to believe that Liverpool won't sell".

The next ten days are crucial for Liverpool and if they see Coutinho join Barcelona and no big names arrivals, then the concerns of the supporters will reach boiling point.

It is understood that the Brazilian attacker could be sidelined for the Reds' Premier League opener against Watford at the weekend after sitting out of training with a back problem.

The Reds will take on German side Hoffenheim in the Champions League play-off round next week as they look to book their place in the group stage of Europe's elite club competition.
