Chameera, Gamage included in Lanka squad for Pallekele Test

India's captain Virat Kohli celebrates with teammates after winning the second Test match against Sri Lanka

The cricket boards of Sri Lanka and Pakistan are in discussion to play a day and night Test match with pink ball in Dubai in the upcoming series between the two countries.

Prior to this series, Sri Lanka failed to reach the semi-finals of the eight-team Champions Trophy in June and humiliatingly went down 3-2 in a home one-day global series to bottom-ranked Zimbabwe.

India, after wrapping up the second Test at SSC, Colombo by an innings and 53 runs would like to carry the same intensity and aim for the whitewash. However, India will find it hard to do so as they aren't familiar with the conditions in Pallekele. The left-hand batsman made an unmemorable debut in Galle and then had to sit out of the second Test once Dinesh Chandimal returned from illness. Cheteshwar Pujara has been the standout player for India and has already hit two tons and has scored 301 runs. Axar Patel, who has replaced Jadeja would find it hard to get past Kuldeep Yadav and Ishant Sharma might have to continue carry drinks for some more time.

However, if the pitch is one that turns, India do have the option of playing Axar instead of Hardik Pandya.

Therefore, two of Chameera, Gamage, Kumara and Fernando are likely to play in the second Test, with Dilruwan Perera and Malinda Pushpakumara as the spinners.

They have not been helped by a succession of injuries, capped by a back problem which has sidelined their No 1 bowler, Rangana Herath, for the final match. The bowling has been lacklustre and with speedster Nuwan Pradeep and Herath out of the Test, it wouldn't be a surprise if India ends up getting 600 again against a hapless Lankan attack.

The hosts, who now trail the three-match series 0-2 having lost the first two Tests, will try to save some pride against the Virat Kohli-led side in the final match.

For India, the final Test presents an opportunity to throw the benchwarmers into the field, but a drastic change in the playing XI doesn't seem likely, with a proud unbeaten record too dear to lose to experimentation.
