CNN has parted ways with Jeffrey Lord after he tweeted a Nazi slogan.

Lord, who joined the network in 2015, was signed on as a political commentator through 2017.

"Nazi salutes are indefensible", a CNN spokesperson said in an email statement "Jeffrey Lord is no longer with the network".

Lord, a former Reagan administration staffer, had been one of CNN's best-known commentators.

CNN decided enough was enough after the below exchange involving Media Matters' Angelo Carusone.

Lord, according to CNN's Brian Stelter, was a prominent proponent of President Donald Trump.

Media Matters for America quickly spiked the football Thursday afternoon, leading its homepage with a stylized image of Mr.

Lord was sniping with Carsone over an American Spectator column Lord wrote blasting Media Matters as "anti-free speech bigots" for promoting a boycott against Sean Hannity's sponsors.

Lord tweeted the column at Carusone, who responded, "Your headline has a mistake in it".

Jeffrey Lord is out as an on-air contributor for the network after a controversial tweet of his went viral on Thursday.

"If your entire criticism is that everyone is a fascist or a Nazi then you probably shouldn't use the Nazi victory salute in order to make your argument", Carusone said.

Media Matters urged its supporter to pressure advdertisers on Hannity's program to withdraw their support.
