These days the countdown to Christmas doesn't start with early decorations in shops, flawless present suggestions in September or cheeky July advertisements: it starts when the Christmas entertainment shows begin and this includes BBC favourite Strictly Come Dancing. Not so much a Cha Cha Cha, but more like a gentle Lago.

The Rev Coles, who was born in Northamptonshire and is the vicar of St Mary's Church in Finedon where he lives with his partner David, will be hitting the dancefloor alongside the other already confirmed celebrities - actress Gemma Atkinson, This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford, EastEnders star Davood Ghadami and The Saturdays singer Mollie King.

'I have dreamt about doing Strictly for so long, I can't quite believe my dream has come true!

"I love dancing. But God does not always endow with gifts equally and I was near the back of the queue", he says. "I'm looking forward to just learning to dance as it's out of my comfort zone".

We can't wait to see him put on his dancing shoes!

"I'm so excited, I'm really nervous as well".

Strictly Come Dancing starts later year in September on BBC One. "It will be a welcome change worrying about my next hot move instead of my next hot flush!"

This series will also see a new face on the judging panel after Len Goodman's departure a year ago after 14 series.

But who has what it takes to become champion this year?
