LG V30 to have f/1.6 aperture lens for dual-camera

LG confirms details of the V30 launch including streaming of the event

It also offers better color reproduction. And while it's arguable that LG has been able to deliver on those promises to a certain degree, it has easily been overshadowed by Samsung, Google, and now even HTC. With such large aperture, LG V30 camera will be able to absorb 25 percent more light to the sensor compared to an F1.8 lens seen in rival brands.

LG said earlier that the new smartphone will focus on camera-related features through its teaser poster. "LG boasts [of] an unrivalled heritage in smartphone photography and our decision to adopt glass in the V30 camera is specifically because this has traditionally been the realm of DSLRs", Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications, was quoted as saying in the company's release.

But LG didn't stop there.

The V30 will have dual lenses, with the standard lens boasting a resolution of 16-megapixel and the wide-angle lens posting 13-megapixel. LG calls it Glass Crystal Clear Lens and it basically sums up what it's all about.

Conventional plastic lens, top, receives less light than V30's glass, bottom, LG said. The fact that the V30's dual camera setup will also reduce edge distortion in wide angle shots is also exciting, as LG has used dual cameras in previous flagships for wide angle photos, and so it's good to hear that LG is working to improve the performance of that feature. LG also throws in its Laser Autofocus system, as well as both OIS and EIS into the package.

With the launch of the LG #V30, LG will have officially forayed into the OLED display market. The company's next premier handset, the LG V30, will be made official on August 31st at IFA in Berlin, but LG's making sure we know its biggest selling point today: the camera. It will come with a 6.0-inch plastic OLED FullVision, Corning Gorilla Glass 5-protected QHD+ display with internals that include the latest Snapdragon 835 processor and 4 GB of RAM.
