"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides", said Trump.

Police officers who had been keeping a wary eye on the march jumped in and broke up the fights. They did the opposite of their job.

Greenblatt said that the violence was "predictable" and was "consistent" with hateful messages being put out by groups linked to the alt-right.

The impact hurled people into the air and those left standing scattered, screaming and running for safety. The driver, identified as James Alex Fields, Jr., is being charged with second degree murder and multiple other felony counts.
