US STOCKS-Wall Street swings lower after Trump warns North Korea

The index has fallen to its lowest intraday level in nearly a month.

In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 36.64 points to 22,048.70, the S&P 500 index inched down 0.90 of a point to 2,474.02 and the Nasdaq composite index lost 18.13 points to 6,352.33.

Despite the gains on the day, the major averages moved lower for the week.

In Europe, Germany's DAX fell 1.1 percent, while France's CAC 40 slid 1.4 percent.

Stocks are falling in midday trading on Wall Street, led by declines in technology companies and banks. Economists polled by MarketWatch are forecasting a 0.2% monthly rise for both measures, after flat reading the prior month.

The S&P was only down 0.1 percent for the week entering the session. Indeed, US equities sold off at the open and added to those losses this afternoon following President Trump's latest warning to North Korea.

The tensions, since Trump made his "fire and fury" comments on Tuesday, have wiped out almost $1 trillion from the global equity markets.

But are investors really nervous about a possible military conflict with Kim Jong Un?
