Snap Shares Hit New All-Time Low

Media stories about Snap (NYSE:SNAP) have been trending somewhat positive recently, Accern Sentiment reports. "And that's going to be reflected in the stock price".

Other research analysts have also recently issued reports about the stock.

Shares in Snap, the owner of Snapchat, dived after the company posted its second set of financial results in a row which missed almost every target set by analysts. Snap stock closed Thursday at $13.67, more than 44 percent below the $24.48 opening-day closing price for the stock back in early March.

Its shares fell more than 17% on Thursday, to $5.14, compared to $10 price set at the IPO. Stock traders purchased 38,482 put options on the company.

Shares fell almost 8 percent to below $13 at one point in after-hours trading after closing at $13.77, up 21 cents on the day.

Spiegel and Murphy's commitment to hold on to their shares will provide a slight boost of confidence for anxious investors, said James Gellert, CEO of RapidRatings, which assesses the financial health of companies. The firm's market capitalization is $16.23 billion. Restrictions on stock sales by early investors in Snap expired on July 29. The company reported ($2.31) earnings per share for the quarter, missing the Zacks' consensus estimate of ($2.05) by $0.26.

Snap said its revenue more than doubled to $181.7 million in the quarter, below analyst expectations for $186.2 million. While that's a gain of 21 percent year-over-year, it represents the addition of just 7 million new users from the previous quarter.

Average revenue per user (ARPU) increased 109% year-over-year from 50 cents to $1.50.
