' Toilet: Ek Prem Katha': When the film made headlines

Toilet Ek Prem Katha receives 8 cuts from the Censor Board

Then he meets a college topper, Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar), and falls in love with her.

To add to the hurdles in the path of their inevitable union, their relationship starts off on a misunderstanding, as it is with all conventional Hindi film couples. That responsibility is placed squarely on Keshav who finds all kinds of innovative solutions, including stealing a portable toilet from a film set!

After marrying to Jaya Keshav's life seems to be on the right track, but her life her life turns upside down when she got to know that her husband's house has no toilet and he even cannot build one because of prevalent religious beliefs. Toilet Ek Prem Katha is an attempt to make a full length film out of a 15 minute public service announcement, which is why it feels so stretched and invariably long in the second half.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was made on a shoestring budget of Rs 18 crore. In the movie Akshay's joke with Divyendu Sharma is hilarious and his comic timing is just right on the spot.

The film ran into controversy earlier when Praveen Vyas, a filmmaker had sent legal notice to the makers. He captioned the video as, "Can't wait to watch toilet ek prem Katha...1 day to go...this one is for you @akshaykumar....@kriarj".

To begin with, the film has a very simple story woven coherently around characters that look extraordinarily real. This film is important especially for women and when you will see the film, you will realize how much awareness this film brings to the table. Meanwhile, other Akshay starrers like Airlift, Rustom and Housefull 3 have also scored double digits amounting to Rs 11 crore, Rs 13.50 crore and Rs 15 crore respectively on opening day, a Box Office India report said.

Talking about director Shree Narayan Singh, he deserves praises for keeping the film as simple as possible. Despite all the positives, the length of the film is an issue.

Ayushmann Khurrana - The promo of the film is looking really good. The intermittent songs make the flow sluggish.
