Trump speaks with Guam governor amid North Korea threat

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrives at a military base in Subang Malaysia Tuesday Aug. 8 2017. President Donald Trump declared the U.S. nuclear arsenal

Regardless of the potential threat, Guam's governor, Eddie Baza Calvo, wants his people to "live their lives" and says that nothing has changed.

As the saber-rattling and war of words between Donald Trump and North Korea intensifies, the U.S. president called up the governor of Guam to reassure him of America's support.

Eddie, I have to tell you, you've become extremely famous.

"I think - tourism, I can say this, your tourism, you're going to go up like tenfold with the expenditure of no money, so I congratulate you", Trump said during a phone call released by Calvo on his Facebook page. As part of the short conversation, Trump also assured Calvo that he had become "extremely famous" as a result of Guam being in the press and said that tourism in the USA territory would go up "tenfold". During the conversation Trump also noted how much everyone around the world is talking about and focused on Guam after the missile attack threats by North Korea. "It just looks like a handsome place", he said. "It just looks like a handsome place", Trump said.

The reason, of course, that Guam is in the news is because of Trump's threats regarding North Korea.

As tensions continue to rise between the United States and North Korea, folks are suddenly remembering that even if the DPRK can't strike the continental US, if they really wanted to, they could cause problems for our allies and territories. In response, President Donald Trump has warned North Korea repeatedly that if it takes such action, the US will hit back.

Trump is clearly leaning on the old adage that all press is good press, but here's the thing: it's not. "And frankly, you could have said that for the last three presidents".

However, Guam's security agency has issued a fact sheet with advice on what residents should do in the event of a nuclear attack.

"Mr President, as the Governor of Guam, representative of Guam's people, and as an American citizen, I felt never more safe and confident with you at the helm", the Governor said with a smile.

Well, at least someone is planning.
