Would-be armed robbers foiled by Texas store owner and son

IDs Wanted for Two Armed Men Chased Off by Store Employees in Arlington

The suspects entered Z-Comm, an Arlington-based cell phone fix store that buys and sells cell phones, under the guise that they were there to do business, surveillance footage of the July 18 incident showed.

As the armed man jumps the counter, the employees, who were unruffled under gun point, immediately confronted and took the armed man to the ground.

In a dramatic and harrowing surveillance video released by police, an attempted armed robbery on an Arlington, Texas, cellphone store Tuesday was halted when the owner and his son spring into action.

Monga said he thought the guns weren't real, but law enforcement later confirmed they were, as one was dropped by the suspect in his attempt to get away. That is when the store owner's son tackles one of the robbers as the other thief locks on, pointing the gun at the clerk and his son.

Commenting on the incident, police said: 'We do not recommend that you try and fight off armed robbers.

Shop owner Khurrum Monga told CBS, "We were thinking, 'It was fake".

Arlington police said the men are both black and roughly the same size with a slender build and standing between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. "If something is going to happen, it's going to happen to both of us".

Eventually, the crook breaks free and runs out of the store without his loaded gun, merchandise, or money.

Anyone who may recognize the suspects is asked to call Detective Houchin at 817-459-5301.
